Flip, two months have passed since last time. Guess I have a little explaining to do XD.
Only a few things have happened in the last wee while but they have been taking up most of my time, which is all prep for the working world as my studies end in around a month, so don’t expect any thrilling moments in this, cause there really haven’t been any :P
So to start off with, course, since my last update, has been all about learning the .net framework and how to build basic applications using all the goodies which .net has hidden away. Its quite fun and its stuff that I can see being useful, but to be honest, this current topic of Asp.net is soooo boring. Give me database building any day.
So I decided to go with the latter of the two suggestions and have been starting to learn about Unreal 4 and been doing tutorials to get familiar with it. And after I learned a bit, I decided the best way to mess with it was to continue making my current project using it.
So this is a nice follow through to LoveStar. Yes, I am kicking myself that I decided to start again, but luckily it won’t take too long to get back to the last point as I have all the previous assets to work with :3, though I came into some troubles with the current sprite system in Unreal which resulted in a work around that took a good two weeks of evenings to get working in an acceptable manner.
But yeeaah, as you can see from the screenshot up the top, things have all of a sudden started being 3D, which I have never done till last week and its quite a different though process to shift from 2D to 3D but its fun, and I really like the direction this is starting to head
OH and also, at the end of may I decided to try making an isometric shooter prototype/concept/trash in only a week and the end result looked very similar to this, except there are now a few more words on the screen.
and just for the sake of it, the game over screen(Very boring indeed)
I was aiming to have this posted around a month ago but it slipped my mind, so i’ll post that in the next few days
Oh and also I change my age since last time as well, now the big two-two, which so far has involved a lot of tea drinking, quite a bit of baking, not being further then 5km away from home, and being quite antisocial XD, which has been a nice change of pace.
Though saying that, I have also finished playing a couple of games which I really need to do some fanart for, so expect that and the post about the isometric game thing later this week! So hope you enjoyed this long post, and until next time XD
A cute and simple game, it reminds me a lot of Game and Watch. I got like 367!!
Cheers, glad ya like it.
Also so far I’ve only got 246… so congrats on beating the creators score :D
WOOOO, finally finished making this silly little dodging game.
It took a couple of days and was made just to give myself some motivation.
You can find all the info and download links here!
(Available for both Windows and Mac)
Ah yes, it has been a while, but a lot has happened in the last while, Dark Souls 2 was released, discovered Luftrausers, just finished one of the ‘.NET foundation’ books ready for a test next week and have managed to not spend all my money on energy drinks. So all in all, pretty productive.
Where does that leave LoveStar? Well don’t worry yourself to much, there has been progress. I decided that I need to make it function like the game it is before I move on any further with making assets.
What do you mean ‘function like the game it is’?
I’m glad you pointed that out.
I need to organise the code within the game so that when I shift between areas and days, that it wont be a hassle to manage it. Currently I’m focusing on the areas, and making them flow as a single 12000px long stage where in reality it will be 12 different stages that will only have 4 active at a time, which is what the trues and falses are telling me on the left side, I’ll draw up the plan of how the stages are going to work next time.
Anyway, it’s been a long day/night and I need some sleep before my flatmates start building something or fixing their cars.
Goodnight all of you!
Well the shirt has been added, and I’m starting to get a little over working animating so just a couple more frames, then sorting them for tomorrows job of making an animation class to handle them.
I would like to say it shouldn’t take to long, but it probably will… bleh, it just feels like tomorrow is just gonna be one of those days.
Gah! now it went and shrunk. dammit tumblr just post it native size
I’m starting to get sick of seeing the stretched version of what i’m doing so here is a little one. As you can see, pants and hair are outlined and thus, not naked(but still needs more clothes because its cold here and bleh). Now for the next hour I’m gonna mess around with an idea I had this morning. I would explain but it really wouldn’t do anything special for the idea so bleh, time to make it.
I procrastinated my course work all day(woke up at 11am, currently 3am), and in the process decided to work on giving this guy some more clothes, which is getting there.
Next is to finish outlining each frame, then to add his second shirt… and I guess give him shoes.
Anyway, I must actually do some course work now… otherwise I’m gonna be in deep trouble.
Well my mission for today has finally come to a close which was to make the freaking transaction from city to space, and well, it certainly isn’t a clean job but it is finally done, and I really just want to get this done regardless of personal expectations any more.
Might take advantage of the up and coming Easter weekend to nut a bunch of this out.
So progress has continued tonight with the addition of a face and hair… and the occasional clothes.
And yeah, that’s the progress… Stunning stuff
